Advanced search question

Hey,

I've just ran into a problem with filtering some resuts I want. I'm trying to filter only ad groups that doesn't contain any keyword. If I set keyword word count = 0, it doesn't do anything. Any other thoughts?

Hi Alex, where are you using "Keyword count = 0"?

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think there's a Filter option to identify Groups without Keywords, the only way you'd be able to do this is with a Script.

Hello Cobnut,

I'm using it in advanced search/settings/keyword word count equals 0.

Huh, scripting is not something I would like to use here, but still thanks for advice.

If you'd guys figure out something, let me know!

Thanks

Hi Alex,
Are you familiar with the AdWords Editor?  Using the AdWords Editor you can download all of your Ad Groups to a spreadsheet and then you should easily be able to find Ad Groups w/ zero Keywords.

You may even be able to use the Editor's Advanced Search feature to find Ad Groups w/ 0 Keywords without downloading to a spreadsheet.

Ah, you're using the Editor, sorry Alex, I didn't realise.

I suspect that the "keyword word count" option will only work where there's actually a Keyword to work upon.  In other words, it'll work if you ask it for Keywords with more than 2 words, but it can't "count" the words in a Keyword that doesn't exist.  Am I making sense?

As Brian suggests, the Editor will highlight any search Groups that don't contain Keywords so you may be able to see them just by selecting a view of "Items with errors or warnings."

Alternatively, the scripting route is really quite simple...
