Currently, I am using a test manager account and create 2 test adwords clients. The test manager account asks filling billing information. i.e. credit card detail. I don't have a credit card. How should I approach this? (see attached pic)

Hi Gary,

What are you trying to achieve?

You can create ads and keywords, ad extensions and conversion actions (and lots more) without entering billing details.

For the ads to run, you need to enter billing details.

You can't run ads without being charged for clicks. If what you are looking for is a sandbox to simulate running ads without actually paying, that is not something that Google offers.

Hi Rob,

I am running a Joomla website. What I want to do eventually is

1. People click one of our product ad on google search

2. People land on that product page

3. Do a few clicks, then land on a final checkout page.

4. People click the pay now button and redirect to paypal.

5. Finish payment and back to our thank you page.

So what I need to do is to tell ad words api (by using this lib:https://github.com/googleads/googleads-php-lib) in step 5, someone has clicked the ad and bought the product.

So what is the best approach?

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,

This is how I would do it. Using the API sounds like over-complicating things.

1. Install a Joomla extension that does Google Analytics eCommerce Tracking

2. Exclude paypal.com as a referrer in Analytics

3. Connect Analytics to AdWords and import transactions.

Hi Rob,

We do have google analytics installed on our site. I assume every time customers click on links on our website. It sends info to google analytics.

The e commence module I am using it is a custom one. I need to manually fire the event to let google api knows. Do I fire event to google analytics or do I fire event to ad words, when customer landing on thank you page? Are you able to tell me the entire flow from clicking the ad to landing on thank you page?

If you have a custom eCommerce module, then your options are:

1. AdWords Conversion code on purchase success page - with the sale amount added in (needs to be coded)

2. AdWords Conversion code - just counting visits to the purchase success page

3. Analytics eCommerce tracking - needs to be built into the module, would be the hardest option

There is no need to use the API. I haven't heard of the API being used to record conversions.I wouldn't have thought it was possible.
