AdWords Editor login issue

Hi,

I can correctly log in on my adwords account through adwords.google.com but when trying to download my account on AdWords Editor (version 10.5), I have a "Sign-in failed" message. It is weird since I was able to log in this morning without any problem. I haven't done anything in between.

A couple info:

- I'm correctly inputing the login and password (triple-checked, these are the same of course than on adwords.google.com )

- I'm using AdWords Editor 10.5 on Mac 10.9.3

- I was able to download an other account without any problem

- My internet connection is working well.

Would you have any idea of the reason why I can't log anymore on AdWords Editor (while I can still on adwords.google.com ?)

Thanks,

-- Erwan

Hi,

If you've recently enrolled in 2-step verification, you might see this error message when you sign in to your account in AdWords Editor:

Sign-in failed. The username or password you entered is incorrect.

To access your account, you need to set up an application-specific password in addition to your AdWords account username and password:-https://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?answer=180744

Or do asAdWordsEng-Igor suggested in this post:- https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/Advanced-Features/Adwords-Editor-Not-Accepting-Password-Vers...

"In your browser, go to https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps (while logged in the account that you are trying to use with Editor). Set "Access for less secure apps" to Enable, and click Done. Then, try logging into Editor again; I believe it should work this time."

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for your prompt response

2-step verification: no, I haven't enrolled for this.

do as @AdWordsEng-Igor
When clicking on https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps, I have this message that is prompted by Chrome:
"Less secure apps
This setting is not available for Google Apps accounts, it is only available for Google Accounts."

For your information, I had initially a personal account that was merged with google app business account to use my Adwords account.

The weird thing is that I can still connect on adwords.google.com though, so it's a bit confusing. I would however really need to log in to my account through AdWords Editor since I must push some very important campaigns updates.

Any idea on this? Thank you very much for your help,
-- Erwan

In this case, I believe you would have to set up an application-specific password, as described at https://support.google.com/adwords/editor/answer/1075856 . Ignore references to 2-step verification.

I did this and it didn't work. I've now turned on two step but I still can't get it working. Anything else I should try.

Which Editor version are you running? Try the latest, v11.0.3. It uses a different, more modern authentication mechanism and doesn't suffer from sign-in problems.

If for some reason you have to stay with Editor 10.*, then explain what doesn't work. What are you trying to do, what error messages are you seeing?

That'll be the problem. I'll upgrade and hopefully it will fix the problem.
