AdWords Conversion Tracking

I use HubSpot to create our landing pages and I created AdWords conversion tracking based off of be takin to a thank you page after filling out a form to count as a conversion. I installed the snippet as HubSpot said to. In the footer section. The first day I used conversion tracking I got one lead, HubSpot showed it and it showed up in AdWords conversion tracking. Yesterday I received 6 hubspot leads, but no conversions were recorded in AdWords. Can I get some helpful insight from my fellow AdWords specialist please?

Hi Marian,

The first step is to troubleshoot the AdWords conversion tracking code.

I recommend installing this Chrome extension to see if the code is firing without errors on your thank-you page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?h...

Please let me know if you're unable to identify a problem using that tool, and we can troubleshoot further.

Best,

John

Yes, I am using the tag assistant. Here are the two flags from the tag assistant:

Conversion value not set.

Non-standard implementation

Conversion value I am not currently worried about, but the non-standard implementation does draw some concern. HubSpot suggest we install the conversion tracking snippet in the footer HTML rather than the body. Is this the cause for this flag. Any other suggestions?

Hi Marian,

The problem could lie with the non-standard implementation issue, but I don't think that is very likely because you already tracked one conversion in AdWords. Unless you changed the code subsequent to that conversion being tracked, the code should still be working.

What is the conversion tracking status (here are instructions to check it: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722021?hl=en).

It is currently at "no recent conversion". I have triple checked to ensure those filling out the forms are taken to my conversion tracking landing page.

I have been using the beta version of the new AdWords layout. When I switch back to the old version some of my conversions begin to show up. This could just be a mishap on Google's side, but I would like to be sure of this.

Ah, very interesting. Yes, it could be related to the beta version, as I don't think Google is guaranteeing yet that the data in the beta version is 100% accurate. I anticipate there will be bugs. If the conversions are showing up in the regular version, I think that is good enough to tell you that it's working, and you can refer to the regular version for the time being.

You could also ask Google support about this. Their number is 866-246-6453.

Best,

John

Yes, I may contact them for verification. I am also wondering, since these conversions happened just yesterday, maybe they still need time to be updated in AdWords. I am only seeing 4 conversions on the day, but I had 6 in HubSpot, so they may just need time to update into AdWords. That is my hope anyway. I have numerous Ad Groups and Keywords and need to pinpoint which ones these conversions are coming from, so I can optimize my campaign. Conversion tracking is a huge factor in identifying these.

Hi Marian,

I have to ask... is AdWords the only source for visitors to your landing pages?
