AdWords Account Permanently Suspended: How to Complain (UK-only)

If you're a UK AdWords customer and Google has permanently suspended your account without good reason, the following may be of interest: http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/competition-act-1998/prohibitions#named3 The key points are: "Chapter II of CA98 and Article 82 prohibit a business which holds a dominant position in a market from abusing that position." and "Conduct which may be considered an abuse by a business in a dominant position includes [...] refusing to supply an existing long standing customer without good reason." I'm not a legal expert, but I've heard that Google has around 91% of the UK search market. That seems pretty dominant to me. As an advertiser, if you're serious about running paid search ads, you basically have to go to Google Adwords. If you think Google banned you without good reason, you may want to complain to the UK Office of Fair Trading: http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/competition-act-1998/complaints Alternatively, you may be able to get free advice from legal experts here: http://www.probonogroup.org.uk/competition/ AdWords' broken processes unfairly ban legitimate advertisers. Maybe if enough of us complain, they'll finally wake up and treat their paying customers with a bit of respect.
