A mobile bid adjustment on campaign AND ad group level, what happens?

You can set a mobile bid adjustment on campaign or ad group level.

If I set a bid adjustment on campaign level +5%

And I set a bid adjustment on ad group level +10%

What is the effect?

Is the only ad group level bid used?  10%

Or are they combined, multiplied ? 5%  *  10%

Hello Elja G. ! Welcome to the Community !

I couldn' find a help page describing a solution to your problem however I tested the mobile adjustment to on of my campaigns.

If i've set campaign level to +5% , all the Ad Groups had +5% in their "Settings/Devices" page, at the mobile bid. But this was an editable value so I could change it to +10% to an ad Group. So I guess that ad group level mobile bid just overrides the campaign level bid, if you change it.

Adrian B, thanks for answering.

Most of the times the most specific bid wins.

But with bid adjustments they often multiply

I could not find a help page either or information anywhere about this.

And I did the same actions, but I ´am not sure what the effect is.

The bid adjustments calculator  does not seem to notice any ad group bid adjustment, as far as I can see.

The help page gives an example about setting a priority, or an OR operation, regarding location bids , I think it does the same with ad group vs campaign. In the example, the more focused target wins the priority.

Setting multiple adjustments

When you set more than one bid adjustment in your campaign, the adjustments are multiplied to determine the resulting bid adjustment. Note that multiple adjustments that apply to the same location won't be combined. If you set an adjustment of +50% for France, and +100% for Paris, only the adjustment for Paris, the most specific location, will be used.

Adwords also has a calculator for showing how it obtained a bid adjustment.

Read about it here

And here are instructions for accesing it

Use our calculator to help determine your resulting bid adjustment. In All online campaigns, under Settings, on the All settings subtab, look for the calculator icon in the "Active bid adjustments" column. (You may have to add the column first). You can also find the calculator in the settings summary at the top of individual campaign pages.
