A Better Bed: Fresno Mattress Factory and Bed Store

2686 North Clovis Avenue #106

Fresno, Ca  93727

(559) 348-9015

https://plus.google.com/117993789274236990878

I have my listing verified and www.abetterbed.com is added in search console.

The url I added when I created the listing www.abetterbed.com later got hacked and there was no site for several months.

I recreated the site on www.abetterbed.com and everything is up & running well, accept the url is getting rejected when I try to add it back to my business listing.

There is no ssl security on the www.abetterbed.com url.

I checked the search console for the following:

Site Errors
No errors detected in the last 90 days. Nice!
URL Errors
509 404 errors mostly due to pages that were added from attack on the site that no-longer exist.
Blocked Resources
No blocked resources detected.

As a test I put another site on www.abetterbed.net, again no ssl.

This url gets added no problem.

Hi Bill, it could be due to the fact that the www version of the site forwards to the non-www version. So do one of two things. Either

1)Change the preferred URL to the www version

OR

2)use the non www version in GMB

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

Hi @Bill N & @Colan

I think it likely is due to the fact that the site was hacked and had been down for several months. In some cases, I have noticed a correlation between a domain's presence in the search results and a domain's ability to be accepted in GMB. A search for 'a better bed fresno, ca' (or just about any branded search) doesn't show your website in the results yet. It will take some time, assuming all issues relating to hack have been resolved, but once you start seeing your website in the search results for branded keywords like that I think you will be able to add it to your GMB listing successfully.

In the meantime, you at least have the .net site to utilize as you are doing now.

Sounds like you're okay in search console but I would check "Manual Actions" under the "Search Traffic" section and the "Security Issues" section (for both www and non-www versions) to be sure there are no issues there. Your site is in Google's index, but I would also utilize "Fetch as Google" in the "Crawl" section of search console to crawl and index the site again to try to help speed up the process.

On a side note, your business name should just be listed as "A Better Bed" to be in compliance with GMB guidelines.

Hi guys

my two cent are extracted from a  redirect checker result below:

http://www.abetterbed.com
301 Moved Permanently
http://abetterbed.com/

It's waht Colan noticed too.

GMB is pretty sensitive about such redirectings.

Hi @Helmut Geissler

True, but he did say he tried the non-www version in his followup post.

I read this.

But GoogleMyBusiness will not use the entered website but will check it on their own algos.

Again are my two cents only.

I know from experinece such redeirects are reason for getting a website rejected.

More:

as per my here linked article I tried creating an arbitrary  POI in makmaker using as its website just  abetterbed.com and I also got it autodenied instantly.

Believe me:

Its the redirect or any other bad stuff deeper hidden in the website.

And its not a GMB matter alone since it happens on MM as well.

I agree with you probably 99% of the time and have learned a lot from your posts but this is an instance where I disagree. I do agree that redirects can cause a problem but I don't think that is the case here. I think it is related to the website being hacked, but if those issues are resolved then I think the GMB listing will accept the domain eventually.

Also, it is worth noting that because of the issue with abetterbed.com he is temporarily using a different site (abetterbed.NET) in his GMB listing. He did not have a problem getting that accepted even though it is a 301 redirect to www.abetterbed.net

I don't disagree much with you.

It could be caused by either of both reasons (preferiign the "redirecting matter" though).

But infact it doesn't matter for me what exactly is causing the deny of the actual website.
Its not a GMB or MM matter to get solved by Google.

The webmaster of the page needs to "clean" the website.

I personally have no idea what best to do in order to  "clean up" it.
