marking a business permanently closed without verification

I purchased a business. I now have admin rights to it through googlemybusiness. We have changed the name of the business and want to close all things associated with the old name. It has the wrong address listed for the old business. So, I can not get it verified. How do I mark this business as closed on google?

please read below google help page that shows how to close the listings.

I have already marked it as closed but I do not think it will update to google because the business has not been verified. True?

That is correct. Unverified business won't show in google . I don't think you need to both about unverified ones. Only issue is when you have duplicate verified businesses ( listings with Same address or phone number )

You can google the business and it shows up as active. A Beautiful Mess Benton TN. This business no longer exists.... googlemybusiness says that it has not been verified.

Hi @Bruce U

The listing you linked to (https://goo.gl/maps/GK2GBFTvgzC2) IS a verified listing but it sounds like the account you have access to is not the account that has ownership of it.

Still, you can suggest the business is permanently closed by going to it: (https://goo.gl/maps/GK2GBFTvgzC2 ) and clicking on "Suggest an edit". Then for "Place is permanently closed or has never existed" select yes. Reason: "permanently closed".
