Hello

I have been trying for a few months to figure out where Google has my page listed. Its not listed in The Toronto Junction Area where the business is, I would like to tell customers where to look for me. Ideally the search would be  "piano teacher Toronto Junction" That's what I am That's what it is. There are results from outside the area? Fourth post for same question no replies.

Thanks

That would be fine if searchers looking for a business like mine in their area already know my address before they searched for it. But if they are looking for a Toronto Junction piano teacher I am not included , others outside the district are? Sorry if I'm mistaken but I was under the impression these listings were for local results, What local area does google think i'm in.

If I have the map focussed in your general area and search for Piano Instructor, your's is one of 10 results I immediately see.

I believe you might be asking why your place does not show in the top results if the entire city is searched.  This would be due to the volume of results; quite simply there are hundreds of not thousands of piano teachers listed and thus only a very small percentage show as the top results.  Obtaining a better result is something called Search Engine Optimization, and it might be something you want to hire a professional to do.  Even then, all and SEO specialist can do is aim to improve your ranking, if anyone guarantees you a top spot then that is not realistic as Google will always strive to show the best results for the end user.

No . actually I'm in (and trying to be found for )an area of toronto which have only a few results, so few in fact Google responds with results outside the area ( 4 total 2 in 2 out). I'm not looking for a top spot I'm looking to be found for my business in my area. If I'm not found in this local search then what area does Google think I'm in. I know where I live and work I just want to get it fixed. My organic site has no problem finding me for the same search area.

I get you as the 6th result  of  all search results for "Piano Instructor near  The Junction Toronto" if searching with www.google.ca

this isn the best possible ranking on a  category search - but a very good one (at least IMHO)

That's the best Google will or can do, dump into a near earmark area with listings 25 miles away.  Locals was a good idea, too bad.
