What's the difference between Total Searches and Total Views on Google Insights[ Edited ]

Hi, my name is Loren Ross, below is a photo of my Total searches (top diagram) and total views (bottom diagram) I was wondering what the difference was between them. Are the total Searches "the Click Throughs" and Total Views would be "total impressions" sort of thing? Or am I not getting it, the bottom number is significantly higher, as you can tell, so I am curious about what the difference is, thanks.

I also have the same question and situation where my total searches is dwarfed by my total views. Specifically, in my case, my Listings on Maps is 3x higher than my total searches. Wouldn't someone have to enter something to find our location on maps and then wouldn't that constitute a direct or discovery search?
