Unable to edit even though I own the business

Business name:  Matt Whitaker, Physical Therapist

Current address:  206 Mason Street Suite B Ukiah CA 95482

Current phone: (707) 462-8080

URL: https://plus.google.com/106244438488693869184

I own the business that is located at the same address, it is closing, I established my name for customers to give reviews prior to closing and now want to edit my location to new place of business out of state.  I sign in to Google Business and get the following message when attempting to link to the business listed.

"This listing has already been verified by another user.  If you want to add this listing to your account...."

I am the owner of the business and was the one that verified it!

Please assist.  Thank you.

Hi @Matt W

The first thing that comes to mind, is you are using a different account to the one you created the account with.

The second, is that you are violating GMB guidelines by having 2 business pages for the same business.

https://plus.google.com/115845167412772564752/about

https://plus.google.com/109342834825581753804/about

If you have 2 verified pages >> are these in your account ?

And the third problem is your website >> you may want your developer to check it.

Not great for a potential customer :(

To see what pages are in an account, go to your dashboard >> https://business.google.com/manage/

If the business page you are looking for is not listed in your dashboard, then it was created with another account.

Tim - thank you for the response. No nefarious intent with the multiple pages for the same business. I frankly was unaware it was a problem. The business Synergy Physical Therapy is now closed. I need to have a page for customers to continue to contact us (synergypt.net), all other site pages should be a redirect to this page. Otherwise, all other references and reviews of myself personally (Matt Whitaker, Physical Therapist - a verified name) I want to redirect / update and tie to my new employer out of state. Bottom line goal is that when new customers search for me, they find my reviews and references now become relevant to my new location and place of employment. I am unsure of how to
1) Delete / inactivate the business Synergy Physical Therapy off google maps / listings
2) Maintain my reviews and tie them to my new location in another state
3) Delete my original account that I may have verified 3+ years ago and have never used that is tied to this same location

I hope I am providing clarity here. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @Matt W

Following your last message, you would like to delete this verified business page >> https://plus.google.com/109342834825581753804/about  but you don't have access / lost account details.

If this is correct, you need to start the process of regaining ownership :

Go to >> http://www.google.com/business/

The click >> Get onto Google ( Big Blue Top Right )

Enter the business name.>>

Select the Business

It will then say :

Someone else has already verified this listing

This listing has already been verified by another user. If you want to add this listing to your account, you can make a request that will be sent to the current verified user.

Request admin rights

Request the admin right >> you will need to write a message to the current "owner" of the local page

You need to go through this process. ( wait 7 days )

Now you can contact Google Business Support to regain ownership :
https://support.google.com/business/contactflow

Here's a few examples of how this process could go:

1. We look at the owner and see if they have been active recently - if not, we notify the user that we have unverified their page and ask them to contact us if this incorrect. Over 80% of these actually come back as mailer-demons and we immediately know the user is no longer active and can't transfer ownership, in which case we unverify them and let them know. In this case, we have an issue - unverifying a page means losing the views, posts and content that has been built by the current owner.

2. We reach out to the owner and they do respond and say "yes that'd be great, lets transfer ownership." We could help them through that process and also keep the views and social content provided by the previous owner (since they are giving that data to the new owner in the transfer).

3. If we reach out to the owner and they don't respond in 7 days, we will attempt to reach out a few times through different methods (email again, phone, website portal contact paths, etc) and give them another 7 days. If there is no response we will unverify the current owner and then ask the claimant to pin verify the page again - so that we can verify they are legit. Keep in mind the process takes awhile because we want to be sure the right owner is managing the page and to give the current owner a chance to reply.

Next Step:

When you regain ownership  ( or discuss with business support during the ownership transfer )  you are now able to delete the page from your account.

Once deleted, you then contact business support to ask them to mark the old / now deleted page as MOVED to your current Matt Whitaker business page.

https://support.google.com/business/contactflow

Recap:

Regain ownership

Delete once regained

Contact support to mark as Moved to current business page
