Two businesses are at the same address

Hi

My wife is a dermatologist and she has a verified business listing.  She has a private hospital based web page: https://www.nuffieldhealth.com/consultants/dr-claudia-degiovanni

Even though her maps listing is active, it is not showing for key search terms such as 'dermatology brighton' or 'dermatologist brighton'. More specific search terms such as 'dermatologist brighton nuffield' however bring up the listing.  Some helpful contributors to a previous post thought this may be a problem with the address, however I contacted google about this and they told me that the reason she was not showing up is that there is another dermatologist listed at the same address (a private hospital). My understanding therefore is that if there is more than one business at the same address, those businesses are essentially competing for the map listing for that address. My wife's listing is more complete than her competitors including info, photos, positive reviews etc. The listing has been active for 4-6 weeks now.

Can I please have some advise? Why is her listing not showing up for the key search terms 'dermatology brighton' or 'dermatologist brighton' in preference to her competitor? Have we done something wrong?

Many thanks

Kieran

You're welcome. Keep in mind that citations are more than just backlinks. The examples I mentioned don't have links to the other doctor's profile page. But he is listed on those sites as a dermatologist at Nuffield Health. You'll find more sites that have him listed as a dermatologist at that facility than you will for her, which is understandable since I would guess he's been there much longer.

Hi Kieran,

I know your wife's listing is fairly new so I'm guessing she hasn't been at that hospital for very long? Since the other doctor has been there longer there are more references (or "citations") across the web for him at that location than there are for your wife. So even though his listing isn't as complete as hers, or even verified, there are still several other of these "trust" factors that Google is likely taking into account, causing his listing to be stronger.

I noticed on the hospital's findmehealth.com page that your wife is not listed as a clinician: http://findmehealth.com/hospitals-and-clinics/nuffield-brighton-hospital/

And on her doctify.co.uk page her specialist is listed as Physiotherapist instead of Dermatologist.

So he is listed on the findmehealth.com site but she is not. His specialty on doctify is Dermatologist while hers is Physiotherapist. Those are just a couple examples.

I would work on trying to correct the information on these and other websites where her information might be missing or incorrect/incomplete.

It will take some time and you will have to have patience. Just correcting those two items doesn't mean she will start showing up for the keywords you mentioned, but I think it will put you on the right path.

Good luck,
Tom

Hi Tom

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll try and get some backlinks from directory listings as you suggest and see if that makes a difference.

Really appreciated.

Hi Tom

Just some quick feedback that your advise was excellent. Thank you so much! We made the changes that you suggested and then listed on other directories also. My wife is now starting to list on google maps for 'dermatologist brighton' and 'brighton dermatologist' which is great although not brighton dermatoloGY yet for some reason but we're definitely on the right road... Her website is being build at present.

Another quick question... if we want her to show up for cosmetic searchers eg. 'botox brighton' would this be down to the keywords in websites she's cited in, should we add a category to her my business listing or perhaps do a new listing altogether??

thanks again.
