SEO and Google My Business for Online Ecommerce Businesses?

Hi,

I was recently reading an article about how having a Google My Business will hurt SEO rankings for zones outside your "business operating area". As my business is primarily US/worldwide, does it even make sense to claim a Google My Businesss listing? Will my SERP rankings be affected by having such a page?

How can I specify my business's operating area to be worldwide if I have already claimed a Google My Business (unverified)?

Thanks

Jason

Hey @Jason D, no need to create a local GMB page if you are an ecommerce or online only business. In fact, only businesses that make in-person contact with their customers qualify for a local GMB page. Instead, create a G+ Brand page.
