Remove business page from listings + Maps as we have no bricks & mortar presence

Hello,

We have an online business which is advertised via a Google business page. The problem is it is 100% online, and people (quite rightly) think we have a bricks&mortar shop at the location address we specify (which we do not). It is causing various issues.

I would like to delete our Google business location and also remove the Google business page listing from Google search results when people search for our website. Is there any way to do this? I do not want a big red message saying "business is now closed" as that is not true. I just want to remove the listing from Google and not confuse our customers anymore. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help

Best regards

D

The link to our Google business page is: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/108557755014734141288/+BooPooWickeltaschenBadAibling/posts

Thanks in advance
D

You can just hide the address so no one knows where it is located and market it as a corporation/online store with pictures saying shop at our online store or promotions like free delivery in purchases over $50 or so. The google maps listing once created I don't believe they can be removed ( I tried because one of my clients had bad reviews and google doesn't allow this) but you can hide the address itself.

Here is a video that might help you

Hello @David N

there is no way to revert by yourself a local listing to a brand listing.

Since it seems you "mistakenly" decided to create for your business a local listing rather then a Brand page the only option would be to ask Google support to help you getting the local listing reverted to a brand page.

I will give you below a link to contact GoogleSupport in German language (from Mo - Fr during the "Tageszeit").

Let me know they were able to help you or not.

The best way to contact business support:

Talk to a specialist
https://support.google.com/business/contact/business_c2c_l?rd=3&hl=de
Global Phone Support Hours:
You can request in many (maybe not all though) countries a call back of experts of business support by phone. This should be possible on official working days and during their the day time only - try it from 9 or 10 AM until 5 or 6 PM

Hello Helmut,

Thank you for your reply on this matter.
Actually we had no idea there was the option for a brand page rather than a local listing. I wonder if this was an available option when we originally setup our listing. I cannot remember the option for a brand listing.

In any case, your suggestion of contacting Google directly is a good idea and the link to do this is greatly appreciated. Thank you. I am now in the phone queue since 25 minutes and waiting for them to answer. I will let you know what the outcome is.

Many thanks Rammy for your reply. Yes as Helmut below describes, we possibly mistakenly selected that we wanted a local listing rather than a "brand listing". However at the time I am not sure we were given the option of a brand listing.

I will firstly try take this up with Google and failing that I will investigate your option. It is rather a scary world that we live in where we have have virtually no control over correcting mistakes which appear on the Google platform like this.

Hello Helmut,

I just spoke to a Google advisor who said he will in turn speak to the support team. It is against Google policy to have a local business listing if you are only an online business. So in this case he is confident they will be able to remove our local business listing (seperate it from our Google+ brand page) and that in an undefined amount of time the local business listing in Google maps will disappear. He said he will keep me updated on that so will let you know the final outcome.
