Providing a link for customers to leave a Review of my business...

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Apparently, in November 2015, G+ removed the functionality for businesses to provide a link to customers for leaving a Review of a business...

One reply in this Post - https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Basics-for-Business-Owners/Sending-customer-a-review-link-... -

suggests the '...Review=1' hack was never officially supported by Google & instead provides a link to what I can only describe as an 'assault course' approach to how to provide customers instructions on how to leave a Review of a business, here - https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6230175?hl=en. I can't follow the instructions, so how can I expect a customer to jump through endless 'hoops' to provide a Review of my business???

ALL I WANT is a link that will take my customers to somewhere close to being able to leave a Review!!!

Heeeeeeeeeelp PLEEEEEASE!

Here is a tool that will generate a link you can send to people to leave your business a review: https://www.grade.us/home/labs/google-review-link-generator

Thanks... but my business is 'Not found' using the information requested, at the link you provided!!!

I would also comment that it is pretty ridiculous for a company the size of Google to rely upon a third-party tool to get their product(s) to work!

They don't rely on it. SEO and marketing companies care about this stuff but I don't think Google has it high on their priority list for whatever reason.

Here is another tool you can try:

Thanks Helmut,

Clicking on the link you provided produced a very strange result... the Google Search results page for my business loaded, but was immediately obscured by an opaque page overlaying it, with a dot in the centre of the screen which keeps changing through the 4 colours of Google's logo - Red, Yellow, Green & Blue. There is a black 'X' in the top right corner of the opaque page which - if clicked on - closes the opaque overlaid page & returns me to the Google Search results page for my business. I have read somewhere, that some of these solutions only work if you already have at least 1 review, so maybe that is where my issue is, but how do you get that FIRST Review if customers can't access the Reviews page???

"They don't rely on it."

I'm not sure how you can say they don't rely upon a third-party tool, as that seems to be the only way to get the system to work, as seen by the fact that it is the main solution provided on this Forum!!! You may well be right that "I don't think Google has it high on their priority list" - but that is to their detriment! If users can't achieve the result they seek with G+, they will soon desert it in favour of other, more functioning, social media tools.

hi @Helmut Geissler and @David J B

I was able to bring up the review box using Helmut's link:

David, did you try on a different browser at all, or after clearing your browser's cache?

Hi PriyaC - sorry for the delay in replying. I just happened to revisit this page & saw your Post (I didn't get any notification that someone had added to the thread... Am I supposed to be notified?)

I tried the original link provided by JoyHawkins in a different browser (IE 11) & got a slightly different result...

Firstly - as with all previous attempts using G Chrome - it said 'No listing found' for DJ Nostalgia in Southampton. This time, however, there was a 'Continue' button in the dialog box (not there before, from what I remember!). Clicking the 'Continue' button appeared to start a new Search which, after a few seconds, produced Review links for my site, using Android & IoS devices, but no link for those using a real computer/laptop.
I am on the verge of abandoning the provision of a Review link via G+ to my customers & just providing a link to Facebook which works fine. Unbelievably frustrating!!!
