Online-Only Business: Local Page Created by Mistake. How Do I Remove Local Page?

I own an online store where I sell a subscription service, and run the business from my home. The store is online-only; no physical interaction with customers takes place from my home or from any other location.

I believe that my son, thinking he would help the business, may have set up a business page in Google, not realizing this was for local businesses only. Now when someone does a Google search for my product/service, a picture of my residence, along with my home phone number, appears alongside the search results. My business name also appears when viewing my residence location on Google Maps. I don't want the business listed on Google Maps at all.

I've since set up a basic brand page with Google, which is what I think I really need.

How do I remove the local business page? I don't see the local business page listed in the pages that I can manage, and there doesn't seem to be any way to do this. It's extremely annoying to have my home residence appearing alongside search results for my service. I'm afraid if I tinker with this too much, I'll have a negative impact on the quality of search results for my service, which I obviously don't want either.

I tried contacting Google support more than 24 hours ago, but haven't heard anything back. Is there a specific support link for handling this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Mark,

I would recommend that you log into the account and delete the page there. You can find information on how to do this here: https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569146?hl=en

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Mark,

Wanted to come back again and clarify a quick point with you--it was my understanding that you do have a brand page already standing, that is its own entity from the local page that your son set up. Is that correct?

Can you also send me through the URL for the local business page so that I can take a look at it?

Thanks!
Liz

Hi Elizabeth,

I have the same issue - where we're an online-only e-commerce store, but I erroneously created a local page (not realising that would require a brick-and-mortar store!). We have a Brand Page - as per guidelines for online stores. How do I go about having the local listing fully removed, rather than just removing it from my account (which means it's still visible as a local result).

Thanks,

J

Liz isn't anymore participating the forum and jumping of such an old thread is of no benefit.

I recommend you to contact business support regarding yor reasonable goal.

The best way to contact business support:
requesting a call back in order to talk to a specialist
this is the link to request a call back: https://goo.gl/ahhzl0
It works at their Phone Support Hours only:
You can request in many (maybe not all though) countries a call back of experts of business support by phone. This should be possible on official working days and during their the day time only - try it from 9 or 10 AM until 5 or 6 PM

Will now close this thread for new replies
