Old partners business showing up for our brand name

Hi Tim, as per your comment, I am posting my problem in a new thread.

So, the issue here is that searching for our brand name (hilltop granite, Houston) brings up my previous partners business name and adress in the knowledge graph. the website is ours, but because of the knowledge graph mix up, all the the business leads are flowing towards them.

https://www.google.com/search?sclient=psy-ab&site=&source=hp&btnG=Search&q=hilltop+granite+houston

we used to be partners but split up a few months ago. they still have the old location but running under a different name. we have the old name but had to change the location. but it seems google is still showing the results based on address and not the brand name.

URLs of both the pages:

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me in fixing this problem. This is very seriously affecting our business and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My business info:

1. Full business name  :  Hilltop Granites
2. Current business address  :

Hi Social M

One of the major problems is your online citations (business directory listings, that show your name, address and phone number). Doing a very basic search I was able to see there's still a number of directories with your old business address and phone number. So Google's ability to connect the dots and realise you've moved to a new location is severely limited.

I strongly recommend cleaning up as many of those listings as you can.

Also, the URL on your Google+ page doesn't go to your American location, but to a landing page that requires me to select from 1 of 3 countries. In Google's eyes, that's not a local business, so it's unlikely they are placing much trust in that website link at the moment. You need to change the URL on the Google+ page to your actual USA page.

In the longer term if you can separate your two USA locations from the same contact page and place each on their own location page, then that will help too.

Hi Priya,

Thanks for your help. I have tried implementing all the suggestions you mentioned, but to no avail. My problem is still the same and I am at my wits' end now. Please suggest what else I can do to expedite this process.

Hi Social M

It looks like there's still a lot of mentions of your business out there at the old address. I did a very quick search for 'hilltop granite, Houston' (no quotation marks) and found the following incorrect citations on pages 1 and 2:
https://local.yahoo.com/info-48425422-hilltop-granite-houston
http://marblelineinctx.com/granitevendors.html
http://www.b2byellowpages.com/company-information/309435598-hilltop-granite.html
http://www.manta.com/c/mtxwb88/hilltop-stones-inc
http://www.usbiz.org/hilltop-granite-houston-tx-77080.us
http://www.smallbusinessdb.com/hilltop-granite-houston-tx-77080.htm
http://www.fbherald.com/marketplace/home_garden/building_supplies_materials/masonry_concrete/hilltop...
http://www.yellowbot.com/hilltop-granite-houston-tx.html
http://directory.biz941.com/profile?listingid=68779630
http://www.texasgranitetops.com/granite-suppliers/
http://usdir.org/hilltop-granite-houston-tx-77080.htm

With this many incorrect citations it is difficult for Google to associate your business at the new location.

If you're having trouble manually locating and updating these citations then you may need to look at a paid service to help you out.

Hi Priya C,

Yes I tried out the same approach, but couldn't change those listings. I have added new listings however on these same sites and hope Google would be able to recognize those as the right ones and improve the results. I even checked out the paid options provided by the other listings and that's a pretty heavy amount. Technically shouldn't they be liable about giving correct information to their users? Why should I have to pay for information that is correct in the first place!
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction though!
