My Business Appears Incorrect

Firstly, we are a web design company....so this problem makes us look really bad.... and we are Google Partners...which make it look even worse.

We have a Google map listing, and we have verified it.  It shows as green ticked.

This is the url....

https://business.google.com/b/108758781292116528450/

It contains photos, reviews, our correct phone number, address and opening hours.

In addition we have linked to this page from our website, and all our other social media profiles, and the phone number on our website matches that on the Google My Business page.

However.... in search results, Google is showing a different Google My Business page in the results.  This is a very old one which we have tried time and time again to get removed.  It has the incorrect phone number, and makes is look like we are operating out of a residential house.  This is the one Google is displaying search results;

https://business.google.com/b/112897853803322395951

so when someone searches for our business name they find the wrong phone number, and the wrong opening times, and none of the correct photos we uploaded to our page, or reviews.

Someone else has ownership of this page we need deleting, so we cannot delete it ourselves. We have reported it as a duplicate... but it is still displaying and we cannot find any way we can get it removed.

In summary;

Our business displays twice on Google maps.... one is wrong, one is correct....Google seems to insist on associating us with the incorrect one.

Please can someone help us get this resolved?

Hi David

First off these are the correct URL's you will need:

Current Correct: https://plus.google.com/108758781292116528450

Duplicate Incorrect: https://plus.google.com/112897853803322395951

Please contact business support to help you remove the duplicate page:

https://support.google.com/business/contactflow

I have also made a note on the page that it is a duplicate

Hi Tim,
We're having a similar problem where we are Google+ Business verified, but on Google Search it shows the wrong address and we've tried to change in several times via Feedback on Google Maps/Google. No success.
I don't know how to start a new thread of my own, hence this piggybacking - where and how do I do so? I can't seem to find a 'New Topic' option anywhere - what am I missing?
I'd so appreciate so help over here - we need it...thank you very much.

you'll now be able to create a new post. Can you please include the URLs for the Google+ pages you are talking about, or if you don't know them, the full name and address of your business.

A link to the Search result where you see the wrong address would be handy too.

Thanks.

Apparently this is a violation...and onepage is going to be removed.

He said he doesnt know how both are active and finds it ""very strange"

He said it is a violation that both pages are visible, and he is surprised.

If the phone number is the same, and we have control of that phone number, then we could get the page released to us, but he said if I tried to become a manager of both pages they would be in violation and both would likely get deleted.

His advice was to delete all pages...but I cannot do that as I do not have ownership. the only page I have access to is the correct one.

He said I cannot claim ownership of the incorrect one, as that would be a violation of policy, as I would be owning two pages with the same information.

His suggestion was to suggest an edit to the INCORRECT page to make the phone number etc correct. This obviously isnt viable to us, as it still result in there being two locations on the map...one containing all the incorrect information.

I was able to get absolutely no advice other than to delete my correct page....and then try to claim ownership of the incorrect one. That also isnt viable as our correct page has several people associated with it....we are Google partner, so if I delete it, we would also be removing all our mcc data, and thus lose our google partner status, and also our reviews, views, and youtube account linkage.

In short...after speaking with someone at Google I am absolutely no nearer to solving this and have absolutely no idea what to do.

@david h,

Sometimes there can be miscommunication lack of understanding with support. Maybe I am missing something but the two listing links that Tim shared have same phone and similar address. I would assume that a seasoned support specialist could merge the listings or close the listing without followers etc.

If you do not have control of the original email used to verify the listing you want to merge, close, delete you could:

"Request Ownership" From there, Support will send a transfer of ownership request to the email associated with that GMB account. If they do not hear back from the account owner within 2 weeks, they will attempt to get ahold of the business owner via phone. If there is no response, the Google team will un verify the account, upon which you should be able to take over.

If you have access, you may want to consider reaching out to support again and request for the listings to be merged or for the duplicate to be closed.

Paging @Priya C @Mike Blumenthal @joy Hawkins in case my advice does not follow the official guidelines

Hi David

The advice given by your Support representative to NOT claim both pages is correct (sorry Cody - claiming the same listing in two different pages, in the same dashboard, is a violation and as mentioned by the representative can cause both pages to be penalised).

Given both pages are verified, I can see why support may be unhappy to delete one page based on your phone call - after all they're not able to confirm which page is the 'correct one'.

Do you have any idea how that second, incorrect page could have been set up? Could you have used a different Google account or perhaps another employee could have set it up? If you can find that original owner then the page can be deleted from their dashboard, making it unverified and much easier for support to delete from the local database.

Thanks for the help @PriyaC and for setting me straight. I find this situation interesting and I'm sure that it happens often so I'm curious to know the best way to tackle the situation. By the book of coarse. And how SMB'S avoid similar missteps in the future.
