I'm having an issue with the way Google indexed a client's site - it shows another client's site

What is happening is when you do a search for flexdealz Kingston. The SERP looks correct, but it has the URL for Bayridge Landscaping. Also, the GMB listing for Bayridge landscaping appears. 1 - Flex Dealz does not have a local listing, so nothing should appear. 2 - The URL should also not appear as Bayridge. We've tried so many things, I'm open for suggestions to make this fix happen quicker!

Your link shows a Facebook page. Do you have a website? If you do not have a website Google is doing its best to find one for you. You could set up a free Google website if you do not need a proper one for your business promotion.

Do you have a Google+ Brand page?

Hi Helmut,

The offending site is first for landscaping

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=landscaping+kingston+ontario&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab...

So whatever is going wrong I assume thats why that website is showing.

It could be that flexdealz is being parsed/hashtagged as flexdeals as thats the suggested search. A problem with made up names or ones with a significance like Dollar. By the way that issue is poor design and programming by Google not a 'bug'. I have long complained that if they just took Categories from the Category field and did not parse the business name as well these issues would not happen. And businesses could put categories and places in their business name with no effect. Going to only one Category field penalises people with a multiple service like a recent poster with ''Çonstruction and Design''. In this case they should allow a GmB for each service now in my opinion.

'Last minute deals' is treated by Google as for hotel rooms.

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=last+minute+deals+kingston+ontario&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefo...

https://www.google.co.uk/search?sclient=psy-ab&client=firefox-b-ab&btnG=Search&q=connecting+you+king...

I doubt Google can parse any Category out of Flexdealz web data and then for some reason the wrong website shows.

You search is for the business name not a Category. So you might expect it to work. As we know a search for a non-verified or Suspended GmB by business name in its postcode works as it does not generate a general Category search.

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=flexdealz&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&ei=OvxhW...

You can see another site shows the landscaping firm.

Flex Dealz does not have a local listing, so nothing should appear

If there is no local listing then anything can show. As Flexdealz does not qualify for any GmB listing they should not worry about what shows in theory?

And as I say they will not generate a Category? And its pot luck for the website? Somewhere in the collection together of web data there is no code to cope with this situation and make sure the 'Flexdealz' website is picked out as a default.

In my opinion this could be a design or programming issue.

When I first started posting years ago I asked for access to the Production test database as a professional volunteer so I could catch these issues and real bugs before they went live. I would apply for a job with Googles my Business IT department if I could as a Consultant.

Thanks so much @Andrew H for your valuable thoughts and insights.

Much appreciated.

One point seem not clear answered by you: can you [or not] replicate the bad result of @FrontRunner M as per his link https://www.screencast.com/t/mUqRJycVscV0?

(asking just for my interest and curiosity)

Not from a browser bar or in Maps for ''Flexdealz Kingston OH''. I am in the UK remember.

From the screen shot we do not know in what screen he made his search. I assume he has his own Zip Code as his location default and just searched on 'flexdealz'"" ?  Perhaps he could show us a screen shot before the search?

Thanks @Andrew H

I indeed forgot you're in the UK.

Guessing you are right regarding how @FrontRunner M searched.

Hi there,

If you look at the screenshot you posted - you will see the SERPS talk about FlexDealz but the url shows bayridge landscaping. I just tried to replicate the issue and it looks that google may be correcting it, but this has happened before, and it went back to showing Bayridge URL in the SERP.

Searching for flexdealz Kingston Ontario clicking on a listing showing the landscape firm goes to a non-existent webpage

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=flexdealz+kingston+ontario&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&g...

https://bayridgelandscaping.com/merchant-faq.html

I would contact the landscape firm and point it out. They would want the link to point to their website. Or delete it.

Is your service only for Kingston?

Do you have a Google+ Brand page? That would be suitable for your sort of service business. And help Google to place you in search better.
