How to tell which business are reigstered with Google Business on Google Maps

Hello Community,

I was doing some demographic research of a local town in Berks County, Pa the other day (West Reading), going down the street in Map view of Google Maps.  I was looking at the color of the buildings and wondered what the color code meant in Google's scheme of things (see screen capture below)

As you can see, there are tan buildings and light grey buildings.  I was thinking maybe Tan means they are registered with Google Business and grey is not.  But upon checking both La Abuela Restaurant the Berks Security Locksmith Services have the "claim this business" status when you click on them.  So what's the scoop Google?  What do the colors mean?

The tan outlines are what Google describes as places of interest, they are based on categories and number of visitors as determined by location services for those people that activated location history on their devices.

The gray outlines is the default color for any other building.
