How does Google decide which location will be displayed when people search for my company?

Hi

We are a company with 6 different offices which are all situated relatively nearby to each other.

How does Google determine which of our offices shows up when people search just for our company name in Google? Is it determined purely on whichever office is closest to the person when they perform the search? And how does that work if the person searching does not allow Google to know their location?

Our 6 offices have quite different ratings on Google; I'd be interested to know whether one office is appearing more regularly than others.

Sorry if the answer to this question is obvious!

Thanks

Nick

There is no "obvious answer" - its all done by their algos and Google never published how their ranking algos do their task.
