How do local search results work.
Hi, When I search "Boiler Repair" quite a few companies appear in the listings that are not exactly local to my area where I live.
A+R Central Heating and Boiler Repair Experts Ltd are 6.5 miles from my location in a town called Openshaw which is a fair way from Sale.
Smarter Heating Services Ltd are 1.8 miles from my location as the crow flies in a town called Urmston. Driving distance 4.5 miles.
CH4 Heating Solutions Ltd and G20 Gas Services are also in Urmston approx 4.5 miles away.
I have checked The IP address I am using at home which is in Sale. The search results are the same on my mobile which has geo location tracking on.
It seems unfair that local companies who are based in Sale do not come up in the search results before these companies, who are all battling for new business too.
I would appreciate if this can be looked at, to explain why search results are not exactly local.
