GMB listing only shows up for old business name query; new business name does not return GMB sidebar

Last month we changed our business name from Atlas Party Rentals to On Call Event Rentals.

When we updated our GMB listing to reflect the change (as we did with our website and all of our other listings/social pages around the web), we noticed that searching for "On Call Event Rentals" did not show the GMB sidebar on the search result page. However, searching for "Atlas Party Rentals" did return the GMB listing in the sidebar, and in that GMB listing the name had in fact changed to "On Call Event Rentals".

Since then I've furiously double- and triple-checked that all of our GA, Search Console, website, and other social/listing profiles have been updated. I've even gone so far as to include "(formerly Atlas Party Rentals)" in the GMB listing for the business name. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the Google Search returns to show the GMB listing when our business name is searched? It's effectively preventing our clients from writing reviews for our services... unless anyone here knows how to do a direct-link to the "write a review" pop-up that works 100% of the time?

YOu and in violation of all rules about names of business listings created a business listing with this name: "On Call Event Rentals (formerly Atlas Party Rentals)"

searching for this strange and violating name I get your Knowledge Graph:

I also get you listed (in the three pack though) on a search for

"On Call Event Rentals near santa ana":

There is nothings to complain about - IMHO

Helmut,

I read through the Business Name Guidelines in Google Help and though there
were many violations (such as calling out one of many locations,
capitalizations, registration symbols, and the like) there was nothing to
advise a business on how to help inform their clients that the name of the
company has changed. Though we have emailed all and called many of our
clients to advise, we still see a lot of traffic coming in off of the old
business name query. As a company, we need to make sure that this traffic
doesn't simply give up on us, thinking that we've gone out of business
(when all we have done is re-branded). I haven't seen a GMB option for a
text field describing prior business names or aliases. Have you seen such a
thing?

you can use structured data (through schema.org) to send signals about your former name to Google.
This way the old name would better to find as using the bad method having the old name added to the new business name in brackets

Helmut, do you know which attribute we would use from Schema? I'm guessing
Local Business would be the source.

not really able to give a good & concrete advice rearding the necassary structured data.
But your goal should be sending signals about the search queriues regarding the former buisness.
