Ended up with 2 G+ Business Pages and a G+ Profile, just need 1 Business Page

Hi, I'm Susan, Digital Outreach Liaison for First Baptist Church at 1330 Kasold, Lawrence, KS. The church would like to have a business page on Google+, which is the feat I'm trying to accomplish (also known as "The Goal").

However, how I went about it may have gone awry, but I'm not sure. I want to know whether what I ended up with is normal, or if I should delete something. (Captain Obvious would state at this point that I'm not all that familiar with Google+.)

Here is what I did. We already had a gmail account, <edited by a Community Manager as noted below>. From the one past experience I've had w/ creating a G+ business page, I thought I remembered that first you had to have a G+ profile, so I created one. Its URL is https://plus.google.com/u/0/102235928639448708391 and its name is FBCLawrence (automatically named when created).

Then I Googled "how to create a google+ business page" and ended up here: https://business.google.com/create  Faced with choices of "Storefront," "Service Area," or "Brand," I chose "Brand." I completed everything and the page was created. That one's URL is https://plus.google.com/b/118310198432605387518/118310198432605387518/posts?gmbpt=true&pageId=118310... and its name is First Baptist Church of Lawrence, KS (named by me).

But then, I remembered that there should be a way to connect the listing that comes up when one searches for First Baptist Church Lawrence KS with the business page, so I searched for that, and clicked the "Own this business?" link. I ended up following all the steps, and thus, apparently, another business page was created. As best as I can tell, its URL is https://plus.google.com/b/115326078096933202760/115326078096933202760/about pageId=115326078096933202760 and its name is First Baptist Church (automatically named when created).

Looking in Google My Business from each page makes me suspect that what I've done is create a brand page and a local page. Is that right? But then there's the matter of the G+ profile I created, which I don't need and which may become confusing to potential followers who are (hopefully) looking for us. We want them following the business page, not the profile. (But then, will they also be confused about whether to follow the brand page or the local page, if indeed that's what I have?)

Can I safely delete the G+ profile? Should I? Should I keep both pages?

Nothing is verified yet. Which one should I verify?

Long story short, I'm confused. Many thanks for any help you can give.

Susan

Hi @FBC L

It is sometimes easier to see what you have created in an account by using the dashboard

https://business.google.com/manage/  ( view in Card view )

screencapture (37).png

I did a search and found an unclaimed listing on Maps.

So >> you can delete all the pages you have created from account.

Manage Location >> Settings >> scroll to bottom >> delete.

Then go to this page:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/First+Baptist+Church/@38.9600151,-95.277387,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x...

Select >> Claim this business

Make any corrections, adjustments to the details, then request verification.

Verify the business and Voila, you are up and running.

@Tim Capper

Thanks so much for your reply. Should I also delete the G+ profile before claiming the business and verifying?

@Tim Capper,
Never mind! I took the leap and deleted the G+ profile too, claimed the business as you instructed, and all seems to be well. Thank you so much for your excellent help and clear instructions!
