Documentation for how to get custom URL is wrong or out of date

So, I created a page for a new business and would like to set up a custom URL, however these instructions appear to be wrong or out of date https://support.google.com/business/answer/6068603.

Specifically, when I log in to Google My Business there is no Brand Pages link at the top of the page or anywhere else for that matter, there's no Google+ page link in the three dash menu at any point, nor is there an About tab or Get your custom URL link anywhere.

Does anyone know how I can *actually* get a custom URL since Google's documentation seems totally irrelevant and is completely unhelpful?

Hi @Chris T

It does specify for Brand Pages.

For Google Business pages, you cannot request a custom URL. Google will offer you a custom URL only when your account is in good standing.

@Chris T

please go to https://business.google.com/manage/#/list and make a screen grab

It should look like as on my endscreenshot-business.google.com 2016-07-26 11-21-53.pngor instead  go to https://business.google.com/manage/#/pages

as on my end:

O.K. when I go to https://business.google.com/manage/#/pages I see my page listed and can click through to a page with an edit button. When I click the edit button, I go to my page and see About, Posts, Collections, etc. but I don't see a request custom URL link anywhere so I'm guessing Tim Capper is correct and I need to wait for an invitation?

yes - only if there is an offer for a custom URL you will see it.
Maybei your page isn't considered by Google in a good standing
