Competitor Changed Business Name To Hide Their Bad Reviews

Hi All,

One of our clients has a competitor with terrible reviews. They've just discovered that the business has changed their name to make these go away. They didn't move the business or sell to new owners.

1. Is there anything that can be done?

2. Is this a violation of Google Terms in some way?

Thanks for any insight,

Chris

Hi @Christopher B, it violates the GMB TOS to create a fake listing or to use a business name that is not the real world business name. Can you share the details here?

Hi Colan,

It's not a fake listing. They actually changed the business name to "erase" their prior bad reviews.

Got it thanks! If they officially changed the business name in the real world it's ok to change GMB page. Did the reviews get removed after updating their name?

Can you share the business details?

Thanks!
