Acquiring a Business - Close old & Create new, or just update

Hi,

My senior living client is acquiring a few businesses from another company. Is it better to have the other company close their listings, and I can create new ones (new ownership, new name), or to just claim the existing listings and update all of the information? I don't want any existing poor reviews to reflect badly on my client. I've read through https://support.google.com/business/troubleshooter/7001197?hl=en and am still unsure of the best solution.

Thanks!

Thanks Helmut,

What about the reviews for the old company? Can we request that they be removed, or do we simply have to reply on each comment? I don't want any negative reviews to badly affect the aggregate rating or to reflect badly on my client.

Thanks!
