Use the Undo Tool in AdWords Editor to Identify Misclicks
This is part of our "5x5" series, in which we share five tips per week over the course of five weeks. We will share must-have tips about AdWords Editor, account optimization, ad-writing best practices, and much more. Make sure to explore the full series.
Today’s tip comes from a situation in which I was training someone offline. I had left the trainee to work on AdWords Editor when I suddenly heard a gasp come from her desk. After creating various parts of an account, she had misclicked / mistyped, which made it hard to identify what mistake (if any at all) had actually occurred.
Instead of scrutinizing the account, I remembered a quick solution to see whether any change had been made, and if so, what exactly. There is an “Undo” button located in the top right corner of the interface in AdWords Editor, beside it there is a drop-down button which basically lists an order of the most recent changes. By checking this, we were able to quickly see that her last action was a paste when she had actually wanted to copy.
So don’t panic the next time you misclick in AdWords Editor, simply take a breath and check the undo tool history!
I have been managing AdWords accounts for over 8 years now at an international marketing agency level and also as a freelancer. I am very passionate about Google's PPC platform and pretty much anything else that is Google related. My theory in life is to learn something new every day and this community is definitely a good place to do so; I would recommend anyone reading this to stick around as it's an excellent source of information with great people contributing to it.
