Implement Message Ad Extensions

This post is part of a series by the AdWords Top Contributors. Check out all the AdWords Resolutions shared so far, and follow AdWords on Twitter to see the latest posts when they come out.

One of my new year resolutions for 2017 includes message extension implementation. I plan to add this to my AdWords accounts where call and messages are an essential way of connecting customers with the business. Users just need to tap on the message extension and can reach the client by sending an SMS right away. It is very useful for niche markets where calls and messages are important.

Advertisers can also write pre-written text which will populate on the user's mobile once the user clicks on the message extension. Cost of message extension is calculated similar to click on ad. It's a great mobile extension which helps improve the CTR of campaigns.

Here is how it looks with an ad:

Once user taps on "Get details," they will be redirected to "SMS"

My new year's resolution is to find clients who'd be a good fit for that AND would agree to text back @Neha Gupta Smiley Wink

I have been using it for months now. Its a good idea by Google but the only problem with it is you can't see the messages. The only data is click type. I've gone as far as to ask my clients if they got messages yet - and some say no even thought I might see two - three clicks. Ideally, you would like to see what customers are saying to make improvements. I think the main reasons is its a big security risk/privacy/blahblah for both communication companies and Google. Hopefully someone can develop a third-party tool that can attach to this to provide more insights.

In short, this feature is in its infancy.
