How To Build Your G+ Presence

If you’re not sure how to make social media work for your business and feel a little lost in the rapidly changing world of ‘social’, read through this post to learn a little more on how G+ can help you build a social community for your business.

Here are a few steps you can take to get started with G+ and help build your social presence. If you want to learn about G+ in more depth I’d recommend this guide to G+, which will give you a more detailed introduction to the platform.

1. Create Your G+ Page and Share it!

Create a G+ page about your business. This will help you share details such as your name, location, and what your business does. Help your potential customers learn about what you do and how to get in contact and drive your business forward.

Get the free G+ badge to link your website and your G+ page. This will help you consolidate the +1s from your site and your G+ page - making the number of people who have recommended your site a bit clearer.

2. Add the +1 Button To Your Content

Adding the +1 button to content on your website lets users recommend your content,

knowing that their friends and contacts will see their recommendation when it’s most

relevant—in the context of Google search results.

If a user wants to share your content right away, they can also use the +1 button to add a comment, pick the right circles, and post to Google+ where people can discuss it with friends and re-share it with their own social circles—all without leaving your site.

3. Use Social Extensions

Add Social Extensions to your AdWords campaigns. Social Extensions combine +1’s from your ads, Google+ page, and site and increases the likelihood of social annotations showing on your ads.

Search ads with personal recommendations show a 5-10% increase in click-through rate (CTR). An increase in your CTR can help boost your Quality Score, which in turn can help boost your position on the page and lower your CPC.

4. Engage Your Following

Engaging with your followers is important in building a following on G+. Share cool content regularly and show interest in and comment on your followers

posts. Commenting on others’ posts will make you visible to the people in their

circles, and visibility increases your chances of getting followed.

You can engage your followers in a lot of different ways. You can host hangouts to connect with your followers face to face, or you can use rich media to create engaging content to promote a new product or service. Other options include running polls, or promotions, or holding Q&A sessions with your knowledgeable staff.

Happy advertising!
