Hi Srinivasan d,

Duplicate keywords are those keywords that are repeated throughout your account, campaign, or ad groups.

here is what google officially says about duplicate keywords
"Avoid duplicate keywords across ad groups.
Google shows only one ad per advertiser on a particular keyword, so there's no need to include duplicate keywords in different ad groups or campaigns. Identical keywords compete against each other, and the better-performing keyword triggers your ad."

Hello,

In addition to what Shuva said above, I would like to add that duplicate keywords basically degrade your account and in case you need to use same keyword in different match types like "cooler" or [cooler], then you should be using the embedded negative keywords in order to avoid overlapping of these keywords while serving ads on Google.

You can also use Adwords Editor to identify the duplicate keywords in an account and take immediate account. Find details here:-

My 2 cents!

Are same keyword but different match types, e.g., "cooler" and [cooler] considered duplicates?

Also, I wonder what Pankaj means by "embedded negative keywords?"

Thanks ahead,
