issue with remarkering campaign

The main problem I have is to get the code snippet that Google Adwords provides for insertion to the pages I want to use for remarketing. All of these tages misfire and it is totally unlclear what the cause is. Adwords help tells you to check about 24 possible causes. Life is too short. What is the simplest tag I can use for remarketing so at I can at least get started? My website is not e-commerce. We want people to fill out contact-us and and get a quote by email. I want to remarket to visitors of specific product pages. Is having a Google Merchant feed required for all remarketing tags? Just too many dots to connect.

Hi Leslie
It sounds to me like you're talking about Dynamic Remarketing. It's actually very different in function and implementation to regular remarketing. You can find out more about it here:
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3124536?hl=en

A merchant center account and an ecommerce site is only required for a specific part of dynamic remarketing (down the rabbit hole we go), which by the sounds of it, you don't need at all.

If you're looking for the most basic form of remarketing, and I think from your description that you are, simply add the basic remarketing tag from AdWords into your site: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2476688?hl=en
Then, you can create your own ads targeting the visitors of your site: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3210317?hl=en

Hope that helps.

Hi Dave-

I went through the steps from the link and it returns this snippet which seems to require custom dynamic parameters and this is where I get lost because I don't want to use an e-commerce type feed. Is there a way to get a less complicated tag?

I believe previously I created a dynamically remarketing tag......I would like to remove it but it looks like you can create one but not remove it? This may be getting in the way of creating a simpler remarketing tag.
