how to exclude specific apps from the in-app ads?

Hi,

I am trying to find a way to black list some apps, so my in-app ads won't show on them.

Is that possible?

Thank you.

Hi Dafna,

I'm pretty sure you can add specific apps as placement exclusions in your campaign, but let me double-check on that for you. Stay tuned!

Hi Dafna,

Hope your day is going wellSmiley Happy

If you decide that a mobile app isn't where you want your ad to show, you can use the Site and Category Exclusion Tool to make sure your ads don't show on them. Simply exclude the placement called "adsenseformobileapps.com" from your list of placements.

If you still want to show for some apps, but want to exclude yourself from showing on specific apps you can hit exclude next to the placement in your report, or add it as an exclusion just like you would for a normal site.

The Help Center article below gives you screenshots on how to do this:

Exclude Sites and Categories

Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thank you both for your answers.
I do have a follow up question though - how do I enter the apps names to the excluded Placement list? The names aren't URLs and the system gives out an error massage.

Thanks,
Dafna

Hi Dafna,

When you go to Display Network>Placements you will see a list of the apps/sites you are appearing on.

If you select the check box to the left of the app, navigate up to the button that activates "Exclude Placements".

This will add the app to your excluded list. If you would like us to walk you through this process with your specific account, feel free to call in to 1-866-2GOOGLE and we would be happy to walk you throughSmiley Happy

Cheers,

Hey Carissa.
Thank you for your reply.
I understand the way you explained but what if I want to prevent my ad from showing in a specific app in advance?
The way you wrote allows me to block apps that my ads have already been shown at.
I tried creating a list, in the shared library of excluded apps but this is what I got:
"These entries could not be added due to the following reasons:
Placement URLs must be provided in a valid URL format."
(I wish I could past a SS here)

Is there a way to exclude apps placements in advance?
Thank you so much,
Dafna.

Hi Carissa

I got a problem similar to Dafna B. Could you please confirm, whether or not there is any way to exclude mobile apps in advance?

Best regards,

Magnus

Hi All,

Great news, I spoke with one of our specialists on this, and it is possible!

Due to the limitations of the platform at the moment, there are some specific formatting tricks (specific to each app) that that you'll need to employ to exclude specific apps proactively. Our technical team would be more than happy to assist you with this on a 1:1 basis if you call in Smiley Happy

Cheers,

Carissa

Hi Dafna,

For excluding specific mobile apps from showing your ads on Display Network, you need add a placement exclusion with special format like the following :

1. Exclude specific mobile apps from showing your ads :

  • iPhone: To exclude iPhone apps, format your placement exclusion with “mobileapp::1-” followed by the iOS appstore ID which is the series of digits in the App store URL“id.” For example, to exclude the LabPixies LineUp 2 app you’d enter mobileapp::1-476954712.
  • Android apps: To exclude Android apps, format your placement exclusion with “mobileapp::2-” followed by the Android app package name which is the last part of the Google Play URL after the “=” symbol. For example, to exclude the LabPixies ColorDrips game app you’d enter mobileapp::2-com.labpixies.colordrips.

Hey guys,

is that technic still working in 2017? I've tried it but I'm told that I must use an URL however apps don't use URLs....
