I would like to know

1. How to add extensions to an existing campaign

2. How will having extension/s affect the cost per click?

Hi Balneaire,

There are many types of ad extensions and choosing extensions suited for your business goals is very important.

Find more details in the link.

Ad extensions indirectly impact your Cost per click as now Ad Rank will also take into account - the expected impact from your ad extensions and formats. You may see lower CPCs if your extensions and formats are highly relevant. Find more information in the link.

Hi BalneaireAlbany,

You can read about the adding extensions to an existing campaign and receive more information regarding extensions here:

  1. Sign into AdWords and click + CAMPAIGN.
  2. Choose your campaign type and targeting options and set your bidding.
  3. Under “Ad extensions,” check the boxes next to the extensions you’d like to include. You’ll be prompted to fill out more information, depending on the extension—a phone number for call extensions, for example.
  4. Click Save and continue and finish creating your campaign.

As for effect on CPC, extensions don't have a direct impact on the CPC. However, there's a big chance they'll increase your CTR which has impact on quality scores which have impact on CPC. So everything is connected, and the more good you do to your campaign, the more good you receive Smiley Happy

Hope this helps.
