conversion tracking code in adwords

1) When inserting the code on thankyou page, will the page differentiate user comes from an ad campaign or from organic search/facebook...?? since everyone after registration will go to thankyou page.

2) Should conversions link to Ad Campaigns? Yes or No? How does the conversion code knows which campaigns / ad groups that direct to the same thankyou page with the same conversion code if not linked to any campaigns / ad groups?

Thank you very much in advance.

If you use the Adwords conversion tracking then the system will ONLY track conversions that came from an AdWords visit.

If, however, you set up a goal in Analytics and import this back into Adwords as a conversion, the conversion data for AdWords visitors will be available in AdWords. but you will have conversion data for all traffic sources - including Adwords - in Analytics.

For this reason, it is generally preferable to use GA goals and import them back into Adwords.

Take care not to use both - otherwise, Adwords will count the same conversion twice.
