Impressions represents how manny your ad was showed. Clicks represent the number of times users who viewed your ad, clicked on it. By dividing number of clicks with Impressions you get the Click Trough Rate, or CTR.

Hi Mahmoud,

This is the one of the important question I have asked myself, when I started my Online marketing career I have stuck in this question and one of my senior is simple explained difference between those metrics, that is

Impression: Count of your ad appears in search results.
Clicks: If someone click your ad it will considered as 1 click.

In addition to the good advice that you already received I would only say that impressions are apparently incremented when the page is loaded, not when the Ad is in the screen area and for example seeing an Ad could require a scroll of the page, for Search network , for positions 8 to 11.

This is why for the campaigns in the Display Network, you can use the feature described here , to increase the CTR by having your Ad on the screen :

Credits to the forum Contributors for teaching me this aspect in the past.

[edit] Conclusion : a below the fold positioning even in Search Only, can lead to a big difference in the numbers for impressions vs. clicks, meaning a low CTR.
