Should I necessarily run both display and search ads?
My display ads have suffered dismal CTRs, like .29%, compared to my search results of 1.5% or better. Of course, the former dragged my average CTR waayyy down. Should I focus on improving the display ads, and if so, why?, or can I forget about that, and just focus on search, since it has been working better?

That depends on the type of business you are in. Usually CTR on display is lower than on search. However; if display brings conversions, I wouldn't abandon it that fast...
