Segment by Device

Previously we operated 2 campaigns: one for mobile devices and one for computers/tablets. With the new link feature, we were able to view within AdWords how the ad was performing. This included helpful Analytics data links like the Bounce Rate and Duration Time. This guided which ads, or web pages, needed revisions.

With the Enhanced Campaign, we merged the two campaigns together. Wanted to see how they are doing, and opted for the Segment by Device feature. But the Segment feature in the Enhanced mode does not break out the Analytics performance at the device level. For example one sees a Bounce Rate for the overall campaign, not for each device.

Is there any way to improve - or correct - this situation? (I know we can go back and create a separate Mobile friendly campaign - but that defeats the purpose of merging everything together in the Enhnaced Mode.)

Do you mean you do not see the device segmentation in Analytics or in AdWords?

Hi MosheTLV,

No - we see the Analytics data linked into AdWords.

The issue is the Analytics data at the device level is not shown.

We see only the summary.

For example our campaign shows the average Bounce Rate for all devices, not the Bounce Rate for computers, and a separate Bounce Rate for smartphones.

This is critical since we're running separate websites for mobile from computers & tablets. We need to see the Bounce Rate for each device in order to know how well the ad and the landing page are performing.

Once upon a time, only a month ago, we had "legacy" campaigns - one campaign for computers & tablets and one for mobile. Now there is only an Enhanced campaign for both.

Our question is how to we get Analytics data at the device level?  (When I spoke with tech support, they indicated we may have to return to running separate campaigns. But this is a pokey solution as the Enhanced Campaign format should somehow provide the detail information.

Thanks again,

Barry G

Hi Barry,

If its analytics you are trying to get your data for have you tried selecting mobile in your advanced segments at the top of the page? This gives you mobile bounce rates etc.

It could be worth lokoing into setting up some advanced filters so you are able to view these stats separately as well.
