SSL Impacting CPC?

One of my clients is being told that having a secure version of his site (SSL) will lead to a lower cost-per-click because Google likes secure sites. Is there any truth to this at all?

Hi JoyHawkins,

According to this article, it could be depending on the site:

http://certifiedknowledge.org/blog/google-adwords-quality-score-factors-demystified/

From the article:
"Here’s a quick checklist for landing pages:
Does your page collect personal information?
If so, does it have an SSL certificate and a privacy policy?
Do you have an ‘about us’ page?
Do you have a ‘contact us’ page?
Do you have relevant information to the search query?
Do you have unique information?
Do you have related content to the search query?"

If you are collecting personal information with a form submissions, SSL could result in a higher QS.

Best of Luck!

In addition to Pete's reply please note that any payment must be made on an SSL page. So if the site involves a credit card payment, you must have this information collected only on an SSL secured page.
