Remarketing Tag and Dynamic Tag Issues

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

For the last week I have been trying to figure out how to get the Tag to work for my Remarketing Tag Adwords Campaign and I just can not get it to work.  I am exhausted!!  Ok my site i can not put the code on every page as it wont support javascript as my product pages are what you see is what you get and I need the code to work on the main template which I upload via Cpanel.  I have over 2000+ products and my cart is a 3rd party shopping cart. SO this is quite a problem for me! HELP!!!!

website is www.poshbirthdaystore.com and i have google tag manager installed.

Also I already tried 4 times to chat with a Google adwords rep and they dont help at all!!

THIS IS THE TEXT MESSAGES I AM GETTING IN ADWORDS ABOUT THE TAGS:

Your tag doesn't include the custom parameter "ecomm_pagetype".
Check that your tag is implemented correctly. The "ecomm_pagetype" value is necessary to enable dynamic remarketing, and should be added to your tag.

Custom parameter "ecomm_prodid" and Merchant Center feed values don't match
Values for "ecomm_prodid" should match item identifiers in your Merchant Center feed.
The value of the "ecomm_prodid" parameter being passed to the remarketing tag is incorrect. Your tag's "ecomm_prodid" value needs to match either the "id" or "item_group_id" of the product in the connected Google Merchant Center account.

Some cart pages are missing the custom parameter "ecomm_totalvalue"
Your tag with the parameter "ecomm_totalvalue" hasn't been implemented on all shopping cart pages.
Make sure you add the remarketing tag with custom parameter "ecomm_totalvalue" to all webpages that contain "ecomm_pagetype: 'cart'". The "ecomm_totalvalue" value is necessary to enable dynamic remarketing.

My Product feed is working and is connected to my Adwords account. I have read all the info on the tags and its still hard for me to get it right.

Also i need advise on how to complete the proper method for the Google Anaylatics area for Dynamic Remarketing and for the rules and mircos for The Google Tag Manager Area for the Tags!! HELP!!! Its a Mess. I just want to have my Remarketing Adwords Campaign working!!

I can not add the code to each page on my site i need someone to help me what to put in the spaces on the Custom parmarter area here in the code Below:

Hey Eduardo,

I checked your source and didn't find above code. Please verify the same
view-source:http://www.poshbirthdaystore.com/, It's seems like Blogger, You may add this in Template and it will appear in Entire website.

My Thoughts.

hi i removed it because i cant get it coded correctly to have it fire for the remarketing ads campaign to run no matter what i do i get to many errors. Something isn't being done right in the Google tag Manager and or in analytics or in adwords its a mess. I need a step by step help from beginning to end for Google Dynamic Ads Campaign to run correctly. And adding the tag to every page on my site is not going to work as the only place to add javascript to work in in the template. Which i have done

Since you have GTM already, you should definitely use that to deploy you dynamic remarketing tag. You definitely do NOT need to deploy the tag manually on each product page, GTM will take care of that (see below).

Unfortunately, your cart being a 3rd party shopping cart where GTM is not deployed, you won't be able to track shopping cart abandoners, but that's OK. Retargeting product viewers is already very valuable.

For your GTM configuration, using the documentation ("Single remarketing tag" method) here's what I would do:

- in GTM, create a new custom HTML tag

- copy the following code in the HTML box:

<script>

(function () {
 try {
   if ( window.location.pathname.search('/item_') == 0 ) {

     // extracting the product id from the URL
     var prodid = window.location.pathname.match(/\/item_([0-9]+)\//)[1] ;
     dataLayer.push({
       'event': 'fireRemarketingTag',
       'google_tag_params': {
          ecomm_prodid: prodid,
          ecomm_pagetype: 'product'
          //ecomm_totalvalue: totalvalue
       }
     });
   }
   else {
     dataLayer.push({
       'event': 'fireRemarketingTag',
       'google_tag_params': { }
     });
   }
 }
 catch (err) {}
})();

</script>

- add a Firing rule for "All pages"

- Save

- create a macro for google_tag_param (step 2 the doc)

- create a firing rule (step 3 in the doc)

- now, still in GTM create an AdWords remarketing tag (step 4 in the doc)

- Fill in your conversion ID: 971129790

- select the macro you created in step 2 as the dataLayer variable

- Test & deploy all your GTM config

- After 24 hours, return to your AdWords account. Under the "Campaigns" tab, go to "Shared Library" (bottom left) > "Audiences" and click on the "View tag details" button. Verify that the custom parameters are properly received by AdWords. You should only see ecomm_pagetype=product and various product ids for ecomm_prodid. If there's a warning saying that you're not passing other pagetypes or ecomm_totalvalue you can ignore it.

You're then ready to run your campaign!

That part isn't right:
Data Layer Variable {{event}}

Can you follow steps 2, 3 and 4 in the "Single remarketing tag" section of this doc:
https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/3002580?hl=en

This walks you through:
- Creating a new macro for data Layer variable "google_tag_params"
- Creating a new rule for {{event}} equals fireRemarketingTag
- Assigning the macro and rule to the remarketing tag

Make sure you match the screenshots

Your firing rules seem wrong:
- your custom HTML tag should fire on "All pages" (and not on {{event}} equals fireRemarketingTag)
- your remarketing tag should fire only when {{event}} equals fireRemarketingTag (not on all pages)
