Remarketing CPC or CPM

Hi guys, I am creating a remarketing Display campaign and I am confused about CPM vs CPC.  I already have adwords campaign - obv CPC - but thought Display banner campaign would be charge by impressions/views of banners and not clicks.  Does anyone have any ideas you can share/clarify for me please?

Hello Emma,

 

If you create a dedicated Remarketing campaign, then you have the option to choose from CPC or CPM bidding based on what you really want to accomplish.

 

If you main aim is branding only, then it is suggested to go for CPM bidding where you on pay Cost per Thousand impression basis. 

 

Whereas in case of CPC bidding, it is a standard method of cost per click.

Welcome to the forum,

In CPC ( Cost Per Click) bidding you will be only charged when someone click on your ad.If your advertising goal is generate traffic for your site then it is the best bidding model for you.This bidding model works with both Search & Display Network

But In CPM (cost-per-thousand impressions) bidding you will pay for every 1,000 times your ad appears.If you're mostly interested in getting your name or logo in front of lots of people, this is a smart option.This bidding model only works with Display Network.

Hello Emma W,

 

I use remarketing audiences in Display in both type of campaigns at the same time, with the difference that I use the setting "Viewable CPM" in the CPM campaign for remarketing. Choose this setting in order to get more exposure :

The difference I noticed is that the campaign with the "viewable CPM" bidding method brings me a smaller CTR and less clicks and more expensive clicks.
