Quality Score on Brand New Keywords & Website

If I have a brand new Adwords campaign on a brand new Adwords account on a brand new website, is the Quality Score of the keywords initially solely based on the ad and landing page content?  How long (how many impressions and or clicks) before Quality Score starts to change based on keyword analytics such as CTR?

This isn't an exact science as QS is very dynamic. Basically with a new account you'll be given the benchmark QS of those keywords (based on past performance on Google) and it moves from there. If your CTR is way up on the average your QS will go up and likewise if yours is lower the QS is likely to go down.

I've noticed changes with QS within a few hours of a campaign going live but it's best to let it sit for a couple of weeks before making any drastic changes to landing pages to improve things if your worried about them.

Because the QS is calculated every time your keyword matches a users search it will be updated every time your ad is displayed, so it may take a bit longer to get your accurate QS's on the lower volume keywords.

Purefuzz nailed it.

Just to reiterate  - The initial QS you see is an aggregate QS that Google has seen for that keyword with other accounts.

Once you get statistically significant impression, click, and CTR data, your QS will be calculated by Google and appear in your account. It is then recalculated every time your ad shows.

Is the CPC bid affected accordingly? If yes should smart pricing or adwords discounter come into play during a running campaign because the quality score improved after a few weeks.
