Hello,

Please look at the below examples, even if they are for excluding subdomains, the formating of the URLs work also for targeting placements :

( expand at step 5 "Formating placement exclusions" )

You can also paste here the URL you are trying to target to check if there is something wrong with it ( you can hide the main domain by replacing the letters from it)

Hi Akhil

I also faced the same issue while managing the GDN. I didn't find the complete solution, but have tried a idea which works for me.
Suppose you have a sub page: abc.com/pqr/xyz.html & if you are trying to exclude it then you are getting the same mentioned error. In that case you can exclude the whole "pqr" directory like exclude "abc.com/pqr".
Don't forget it will also exclude any sub page which is performing for you, e.g. a sub page "abc.com/pqr/def.html" will also be excluded by this.

So look at the complete report and try figure out that is complete "pqr" directory is performing or not.

Hi Adrian,

what about trird-level directory?
It's not clear on the page (https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2454012?hl=en).

i.e. if you have www.example.com/stuff/extra/even-more
I guess you can't target so narrow, right?

Hey Akhil,

Simply add ".html" to the end of the URL and that should do the trick.

It worked for adding from "+Targeting". When you try to add from the "placement details" page (similar to search term report but for Display), you don't have to add the html, which is weird.

Cool trick !
The only problem is that your don't have your domain URL in the "placement details" page...
Better than nothing !
