OK to have multiple remarketing tag on a webpage?

Hi, I'm more of a webdev than a web marketer.  I was asked to put 2 remarketing tags - one after the other (with only the conversion id different, of course) - and I'm wondering if this is common or even advisable.  I am very new to this remarketing code, but Javascript-wise, this seems pointless because the first tag will overwrite the second, rendering it useless.  Am I correct in assuming that?  Please advise.  Thank you very much.

As far as I know .. Yes, you can use more than one remarketing tag on one page and they will not cause any errors or problem.

Hi,

One adwords account generates one remarketing tag. If you have 2 , use only one , the one belonging to your adwords account, unless the other tag belongs to another adwords account.

To check if there are conflicts install the Chrome browser plugin Tag Assistant from google found here :

Also read from here where the tag cannot be placed :

"

Keep in mind

Your remarketing tag shouldn't be associated with any personally identifiable or sensitive information. Sensitive categories of sites and apps can't use remarketing. "

Hey Kev,

It should be possible to place two remarketing codes on the same page. If you have a chance, take a look at this thread which discussed the same topic: http://goo.gl/sKcV6m .

Hope this helps!

Hi RachelM

That solution with 2 codes from the same adwords account is dated 23-07-2012 . Since then things have changed.

At that time we had to use multiple codes , but now remarketing from adwords requires a single code and remarketing lists are built with different rules for the URL address. A different rule creates a different list ,based on the same remarketing tag, even if it is placed on different sites.

" Get one tag that you can use throughout your site or app.

  • For sites, you can place one tag in the footer of your site that will work on all pages. You can also paste the tag using a content management system. "
