GSP HTML ad creation - faulty lay-out

Hello,

I like to put GSP's in an HTML format. Our creation specialist followed the requirements to the letter (https://support.google.com/displayspecs/answer/6256348) but the lay-out doesn't get displayed correctly.

The correct lay-out should be this.

In practice the lay-out turns out like the pictures below. It doesn't put the bachground in the back put positions it above the actual image. Furthermore the promotion sticker is placed in the lower left corner of the GSP while it should be placed somewhere right below the middle.

I have a zip file with the images and the index.html file in it, but i don't know how to send it via this forum. I don't see a option to upload a file.

Can u help me with this?

Many thanks!

greetings,

Paul

Hi Moshe,

I am sorry and i understand that it takes time to look at such a code.
Meanwhile i have found a display support specialist via our personal Google AM who indicated the problem that we are having. I have sent this information to our HTML specialist.

Maybe this information helps others in this forum in the future as well.

See the answer below:
After investigating your ad's HTML, I noticed a few things that could be changed in order to have the image render correctly in AdWords.

1. Size Tag

I noticed that your ad has size specified; however, we require that there be a meta size tag at the top of the code that sets the boundaries for the image. All that's necessary is to add this code at the top of your HTML: <meta name="ad.size" content="width=363px,height=648px">. After I implemented this change, the ad rendered correctly on my Chrome browser, but not within AdWords.

2. Permitted Markup

In addition, I noticed that your HTML includes Javascript and Stylesheets. At this time, these markups are not permitted. The ad is not rendering correctly within AdWords, because our system is automatically removing the Javascript and Stylesheet lines of code. In order to resolve this, please remove the Javascript and Stylesheet code and replace it with HTML (use UTF8 encoding) and some CSS that is supported (style attribute of tags only e.g. <div style="color: black" >). After these changes are made, your ad should render correctly within AdWords.

greetings,
Paul

Ouch... This could be frustrating... A web design specialist should look into the code.
Have you tried calling support?

Hi Moshe,

I tried Google support but they referred to this forum. Our HTML specialist first created a separate index.html and css file. He said this was the way we normally create HTML's. The output was even worse than what i showed in my previous message. Then we found out that google has requirements for html that are different from normal. We implemented these requirements which resulted in the lay-out being better than the first but still not how we want it.

Do u or somebody else have experience with this? Do u know somebody who knows what the google requirements are that can point out what we are doing wrong?

Thank you!

greetings,
Paul

Hi @Paul O

It still seems to be an implementation issue. Ask your designer to verify implementation again. Meanwhile, I will see if I can find a way for you to test it.

On mobile right now, give some time for this.

Thanks

Ratan

Hi @Paul O

It won't be possible to advise further without looking at the code. Make sure you are using only the supported CSS styles.

Thanks

Hello again @Paul O;

This is a public forum to share knowledge and expertise among advertisers who search about the same issue.  Hence, you would agree that switching from online to offline support would not contribute to this goal. So we don't do that.

Also, please  keep in mind,  that unless this is  a small part of the code, troubleshooting pages of a code is beyond our scope due to the labor and time involved.  (We all are volunteers here).
