Hello Lukas and welcome back !

The first funny thing i would teach you about animations is the "Free clicks" documented here

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2453990?hl=en

Read the examples ( just quoting)

"If your ad is an expandable image ad, you won't be charged if a customer clicks on your ad to expand the image within the ad, since that is the interactive nature of the ad format."

"

  1. A click on the headline of a standard text ad will take the customer to your ad's landing page. This is a standard clickthrough for which you'll be charged.
  2. If a customer clicks your ad to initiate your AdWords for video ad content, you won't be charged right away. However, you'll be charged if the viewer continues to watch the video for a minimum amount of time."

You'll have to test, Lukas. And consider if it's clicks you're after or conversions. Animated ads (not necessarily Flash ads, they can be animated GIFs as well or HTML5 ads converted from Flash ads) usually draw more attention through their nature, but that extra attention does not always convert. People sometime click them just because they are flashy.

On the other hand, pure Adobe Flash ads do not show on iOS devices, so if they are in your target group, you'll have to skip Flash to get your message across.

ok boys,

I know I can test it and see if it will works. It takes some time to test it. So I prefer to use something what was working for you and also testing.

Thank you

Whatever you choose, go for placements with larger banners, image ads have received an improvement recently in adwords, allowing files of 150 kb instead of 50 kb, and larger banner sizes,

1) If you think going for Flash banners, read Adobe's best practices

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7b29a.html

and use a replacement picture , if the flash doesn't run.

2) Have you ever looked at your visitors in Analytics using the "secondary dimension" of flash version ?

Here is how it looks in one of my campaigns, for 25 out of 160 visits, the flash version is "not set" , I think that means 10-15% of them don't have flash player active.

3) Here is an article made by people who tested a lot of banners, and the website has some more tips

Excelent statistics there, I use Large Rectangles in adsense too.

Here is how you can build expandable ads to occupy more advertising space and catch a lot of attention.

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375501?hl=en

It will also bring you a lot of joy because a large percentage of users will just expand the add to see what's in there, and not click => free click. It's like the Kinder Surprise Egg of adwords.

Here is a result of using expandable banners with the Display Ad Builder, in just a few days, from Campaign / Dimensions / View :Free clicks

This explains the sudden increase in direct traffic of this website.
