Experiment and Campaign data when updating/creating new campaign from Experiment

I've read two articles related to Experiments:
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6261395?hl=en
and
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/7281427?hl=ru
And it seems like they provide inconsistent/ incomplete information.
The 1st says: "In both instances, your experiment’s performance data will be preserved." (no matter if you update or create a new campaign from an experiment)
The 2nd says: "If you choose to update your campaign with a successful experiment, you’ll lose any data that accumulated over the course of the experiment."
Here we talk about 3 data types:
-campaign history before beginning of the experiment
-campaign history during the experiment
-experiment performance data
Please describe in more detail what data do we keep and loose when we update an existing/create a new campaign from an experiment. Thanks!

Campaign experiments are phasing out at the end of the month and are migrated into drafts.
