Does anyone know of any easy way to more quickly convert standard text ads to enhanced text ads so you don't have to start from scratch and manually re-create everything?

I see that now. Thank you for your help. Another cool trick I just found is the option to select all of your standard text ads and then right-click on Windows to "Export as Expanded Text Ads"

I think this is the simplest way to perform bulk conversions I have found because it reduces the amount of columns and row to sort through.

I've found that a lot of my old text ads needs to be reworked and actually read better once I have done so. The old style ads don't fit well, in my opinion, into the new format.

I recommend just redoing them. You will see better results.

You can Expand all your AdWords ads in 30 seconds flat

But anyway you will need to go and make manual changes there

That search engine land article is written by our company CTO, Frederick Valleys. He's awesome and his script works perfectly!

@Nick C  @Armen S;

Please avoid linking to external resources (as reputable as they might be...)
We rarely allow to link content which in not by Google or endorsed by Google. The simple reason is that we have no control on inaccuracies  or errors should those are found, hence, we cannot fix the content / text if erroneous. In rare cases, in which Google does not offer documentation, we submit a query to Googe and ask a specialist to reply;

Thank you;

Hi Jordan,

You get 50% more space in Expanded text Ads in comparison to standard text ads. So, I would suggest to work on it with more focused way to make best use of it rather than look for some quick solution.

You should definitely make use of the learning which you had from standard text ads while creating ETA

Hi Jordan,

In AdWords Editor (latest version), when looking at your ads, there will be an export button at the top right. This will export your old-style ads into a CSV file that is new expanded ad format. Then you can add the following:

Title 2
Display URL fields (optional)
Additional description line text (optional)

If you are lucky and having the same words for every Title 2 suits, you can convert ads as quickly a one minute.

Then just import that file back into your account.

Hi Rob,

I think your solution will work best. However, when I tried this method I receive the error "Ambiguous Row Type" in Editor when I add in the new text for expanded text ads. Anyone know why?

As far as just taking the time to do this manually. I have 5-7 clients that would total around 80-100 billable hours of work just to convert these manually with a one minute text ad creation time. Not feasible for me in any way.

Does your input have a column for device preference? If so, drop it.
