Here is the story:

I run a display campaign for a client. ( display + retargeting).

How can I prevent impressions from:

  • people from my organisation (eg Agency)
  • people from the client organisation

By the way It will be great to block specific google account!

Pilgrim;

You may exclude a  specific IP (not a user!)

Please follow the instructions on AdWords help center.

Thanks for your answer.

I know I can exclude a  specific IP but It did not convince me.

Do you rely on exclusion IP?

I hardy works for me or It causes me trouble.

I agree ,

Unless you are part of a big organisation with a fixed IP, users mostly connect to the internet with a dynamic IP, or move among sites/locations, switching from one IP to another. (e.g connecting using cellular operator.)

The result - this feature is not much useful.

There isn't really an easy fix for this one.

For the remarketing you could ask people to delete cookies after visiting the site or install an extension to help manage this process.

You could try the keep my opt-outs extension for chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hhnjdplhmcnkiecampfdgfjilccfpfoe?hl=en-GB and see if this helps.

A slightly more elaborate way to exclude people would be to have them visit a non existant page (hidden away from the main site) and add a different remarketing tag on this page. Then exclude this in your custom combinations and they won't see the ad.

It's worth asking the client about their IP and if it's static or not. It's not a brilliant solution, but it might help a bit

hi all,

they just want a certain number of clicks..

I had a simlar clinet whose restriction was to get all clicks @ CPC of 0.01. Earlier he added 800+ Keywords after reading some blog post anywhere and this was our contract to get him clicks @ CPC of 0.01. I start the work and created another campaign with relevant keyword and setup conversion. When he see that he is getting good conversion in this way then he forget the old idea.

Sometime cusotmer were more concerned about getting clicks and not about the click value. You can also handle that client in this way , show him that click is not verything if return is negligible. If he want just brand promotion then that is different case you can explain him about CPM.

Just shared my idea Smiley Happy
