Editing my keywords while it's enabled

I think the title is lacking in clarity. What I meant is I want to edit my keywords but ensure that my ads won't show while I'm experimenting with keywords. But when I disable the keywords or the ads, the specifics are blocked. I am constantly adding new keywords and I want to see the bid required for the first page position while my ads remain hidden.

Hello;

I am not quite sure I am following your question;

Remember; when you edit a keyword yo reset the history. So you rather pause the keyword and add a new one.

If you don't want your ads to appear while working on your keywords, you have two options:

Make the changes offline using the AdWords editor, and then upload all changes at once; or pause the campaign. (I wouldn't recommend the latter.)

You can pause only the ad group with those keyword not the entire Campaign
, to stop those ads from running for a while.
